Introduction of the OMC News section
12th November 2003

We are regularly involved in projects that may be of interest to those browsing the web site. In order to keep you informed of the latest developments we have decided to maintain a news section where we will be able to report our news. Here is a summary of some of the material you can expect to see over the next few months.

A real-time 3-D measurement system developed for the Hamilton Kerr Institute that performs deformation monitoring of wooden fine- art panels under variations of temperature and humidity. The software links together photogrammetry with data from other sensors.

A significant advance in the standard OMC profiling instrument. The new system has a standard body to which can be added a variety of heads. The factory fitted head can be optimized for each application for example to measure a small range more accurately or to have a larger measurement range. Dual sensing head systems for pipe end internal and external measurements are also planned.

How we were able to assist in a Formula 1 FIA court case that resulted in a reduced penalty for one of the F1 drivers.

bullet

Also a flexible stereo head system that can be quickly calibrated and deployed. The system uses high rigidity and low thermal expansivity materials (carbon fibre and Invar).

Over the past six months OMC has worked on contracts for the offshore oil industry, Formula 1, Cambridge University and Canon.
